Dathan Ritzenhein Adjusts Marathon Training as He Deals with Hip Injury

Published by MLive on December 3, 2016

Dathan Ritzenhein won't rule out one last tune-up before the United States Olympics Trials, but for now he's trying to regain his health.

The three-time Olympian said Thursday he has been dealing with bursitis in his hip "that kind of popped up about five, six weeks ago and has been a nagging thing."

"I've been trying to get it under control and just get it completely 100 percent gone," he said.

Ritzenhein said he will not be in Dallas on Dec. 13 for the Duo to Rio Relay, a 10-member field of five males and five females. He had recently been linked to the event, seen as a non-competitive tune-up for most of the elites who will be at the trials Feb. 13 in Los Angeles.
