USATF released the qualifying standards and procedures Tuesday for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Marathon and the 2018 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships.

For the Marathon Trials, unlike the track events, there remains an "A" and a "B" standard. The "A" standards, guaranteeing extra athlete support, are 2:15:00 for the men and 2:37:00 for the women. The "B" standards, required for entry, are 2:19:00 for men and 2:45:00 for women. The qualifying window is from Sept. 1, 2017 through Jan. 19, 2020.

Athletes are also able to qualify with a half marathon time, achieving a "B" standard. Men must run under 64:00 and women under 1:13:00 between Sept. 1, 2018 and Jan. 19, 2020.

The end of the qualifying window could be altered depending on the date of the of the Marathon Trials. USATF has yet to award the event.

Additionally, athletes are able to gain the "A" standard by winning the overall USATF Running Circuit titles in 2018 and 2019. Also, the top six finishers in the 2019 USATF Marathon Championships will be awarded the "A" standard.
